Paper Lined Box in a Lighter Antiqued Natural Finish, What Do You Think?
I’m excited to share something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time: a Shaker box with a vintage newspaper lining. If you’ve been around antiques, you’ve likely seen old boxes and cabinets lined with newspaper.
Tricia and I often go antiquing and we recently found a collection of vintage newspapers from the 19th century. To gauge interest, I’ve only created one box at this time. Please let me know if you’d like to see more!
The newspaper inside not only adds a decorative touch but also tells a story of a bygone era. Imagine the hands that held those papers, the stories they read. This historical touch makes each box even more unique, as no two linings are exactly alike. This piece is crafted from a size #7 Shaker oval box and features a newspaper from 1879.
The newspaper used, the Argus and Patriot from Montpelier, Vermont, was a prominent publication in the mid-19th century, providing comprehensive coverage of local and national news. Including an original copy of this newspaper connects you to the historical fabric of 1879.

I’ve also introduced a lighter version of our antique natural finish, please let me know what you think of that as well!
Instead of our prior pre-order process where you paid upfront and waited for your items to be crafted - or you sent me an email, you can now click on a "Request" button located on each product page (see screenshot). Here's how it works:
Hopefully this new system ensures I’m making what you would like to see, if you have any feedback please let me know!
I'm happy to announce another new feature on the website: customer testimonials! Now, you can share your experience and feedback about our products and customer service directly on the site. To get things started, I've imported reviews from my old Etsy shop, but I would love to get more recent feedback from you! The button to submit a review can be found at the bottom of the homepage as well as on each product page. Please visit today to read what others have said and to leave your own review, it's very much appreciated!
I'm excited to share that the new lumber processing shop is now complete! This addition will streamline the process by moving the messy tasks of sawing, planing, and drum sanding raw materials from my current workspace to the new shop. This change will free up my existing workshop, reducing dust and creating a cleaner environment for crafting boxes. With this completed, I'm now back in the shop making the next batch of items!
