Ready to Ship – Size #5 Divided Carrier – Antiqued Natural, Black Interior

This Shaker Divided Carrier measures 9.5" long by 7" wide by 2" tall (3.75" to the top of the handle) with an interior depth of 1.75".

This is a smaller version of my divided center-handle carrier — a sewing carrier sized for a needleworker's table. A fixed center handle runs down the middle, dividing it into two compartments, so scissors, threads, and small tools stay sorted and a project is easy to carry from room to room. It's built for everyday use, but it's just as at home on display — holding a few finished pieces, or showing off some of your antique sewing implements.

How it's made:

• Materials: a quartersawn maple band, with a quartersawn Eastern white pine bottom and handle. I mill all my own lumber on-site, from logs sourced through local woodsmen here in Maine.
• Joints: each swallowtail joint is hand-cut, so no two pieces are quite alike.
• Fasteners: copper tacks made on original 19th-century machines, darkened so they blend into the finish rather than stand out. Wooden pegs securely hold the handle.

Finish: an antiqued natural exterior with a black milk paint interior — a two-tone look. The exterior is dyed for an aged look and finished with five coats of tung oil.
