Set of Three (3) Oval Stitchers Trays, Papered Interior, Red/Green/Red Milk Paint Finish

This is a set of three Shaker-inspired oval stitchers trays in multiple milk paint finishes, each with a paper-lined interior.

The set includes one tray in each of the following sizes:
• Size #3 (Red Milk Paint): 7" L × 5" W × 1 ¼" H
• Size #4 (Green Milk Paint): 8" L × 6" W × 1 ¼" H
• Size #5 (Red Milk Paint): 10" L × 7" W × 1 ½" H

Each tray features a papered interior using high-quality vintage-style paper. The paper is glued in place and sealed with a protective matte coating.

Paper Lining

Each tray is lined using a careful multi-step process designed for strength and long-term durability. The vintage-style paper is sealed to reinforce the fibers, fully adhered to the tray interior, and finished with a protective topcoat. This ensures a smooth interior surface that will hold up well with regular use.

These trays are useful in the craft room for organizing sewing supplies, patterns, and small tools. They also work well in an office setting for keeping everyday items close at hand, or around the home for small kitchen items or displaying keepsakes.

Construction

• Materials: The tray sides are made from maple or birch, and the bottom boards are quarter-sawn pine. All lumber is milled in our shop here in Embden, Maine.
• Hand-Cut Joints: Each swallowtail joint is individually hand-cut by Robert LeHay.
• Fasteners: Bands and bottoms are secured with copper tacks made on original 19th-century machines.
• Finish: Available in a variety of milk-paint and natural finishes. Painted trays receive two coats of high-quality tung oil; natural finishes receive five coats.
• Aged Appearance: Copper tacks are darkened for a traditional look. As customary, the bottoms of painted trays are left unpainted, then dyed and oiled for an aged patina.
