Please Note: This piece is being offered at a reduced price due to a very small, barely noticeable crack where the center handle attaches to the side, and because the finish did not turn out quite to my satisfaction. This versatile center handle carrier measures 14 ¾” long by 10 ½” wide by 2 ¾” tall (5 ¼” to the top of the handle). The carrier blends functionality with classic Shaker design, making it an ideal addition to any home.

The center handle carrier is perfect for various uses. Whether holding napkins and condiments at your next barbecue or organizing incoming and outgoing letters, sewing supplies, or TV remotes, its practical design suits many needs.  It’s durable enough for everyday use while also serving as a decorative centerpiece on your table.

Construction:
•    Materials: Constructed from a maple or birch band with a quarter-sawn pine bottom and handle.  All lumber is milled at our shop here in Embden, Maine.
•    Hand-Cut Joints: Each swallowtail joint is individually hand-cut by Robert LeHay, ensuring each piece is unique.
•    Fasteners: The band and bottom board are secured with copper tacks made on original 19th century machines, while wooden pegs secure the handle for added strength and authenticity.
•    Finish Options:  Available in a variety of milk paint and natural finishes.  All painted pieces receive two coats of a high quality tung oil finish, while natural finish boxes receive five coats.  This oil finish ensures that the box is well protected and the finish will only get better with age.
•    Aged Appearance: Copper tacks are darkened to provide a vintage look. Following tradition, the bottom of painted pieces is left unpainted, then dyed and oiled to provide an aged patina.
