The sizes are graduated, so every box nests inside the next one up. Many stacks aren’t bought all at once — they come together a box at a time.

Building a stack
Any run of sizes
A stack can be any run of sizes — three boxes or eight — and any mix of colors, which is half the fun of building one. Because every batch is dyed and painted by hand, colors vary a little from batch to batch; a stack collected over a few years carries that history in it.
