What patience was required to weave such a piece! The weave gets finer as you get to the top and bottom, meticulous work! There is a hole at the top for the yarn or string to come through. The two halves are held together with a cotton twine hinge, there is a little loop attached to the front as well for a handle. The inside is lined in a beautiful rose-colored satin. It was quite possibly crafted by local indigenous people of the northeastern US.
