This Victorian era button box originated in France. The floral decoration is beautiful, the paint is aged to perfection – it is the picture of dignity! The inside is lined with cream colored silk as thin as butterfly wings. There is a soft padding under the silk. The silk is almost completely intact. There is a fabric label at the top of the cover, it is very subtle and reads “Manufacture de Boutons de C.M. Colonge, a Liege. Prix 6 louis.”. The wooden box is both sturdy and dainty. The cover has a bend in it, as shown in the photo. The latch is missing. The hinges are present and work fine. Can you tell I am a little bit in love with this button box? 😊
