1920’s – 1930’s Compact and Beaded Purse

First, the compact.  The cover is floral décor celluloid, the bottom is leather (snakeskin, I think), the beveled mirror is a bit smoky due to age but has no cracks or chips.  The latch and hinge work well.  The sifter is in place and very clean.  The puff, which may or may not be original to the piece is included and could easily be cleaned up a bit.  Also included is an envelope of Lady Esther Powder in Brunette Shade.  The powder is still in the envelope.  The compact is stamped beneath the mirror “Made in USA”.

Now, the purse.  It is beaded and lined with satin.  The snap closure is in place and works well.  There are a few spots where the beads have come away but this is not overly noticeable.  The small strap on the back is also in place and well attached to the purse.  There is no tag to indicate origin, but I suspect this was made in Belgium as many beaded purses of the era were made there.
